Top 10 Movies of 2010

So after I watched The Social Network I thought about all the movies I saw in theaters in 2010 and what movies I got for Christmas this past year.  I decided to make my own list of my top 10 favorite movies from last year.  Deciding what was going to be #1 and what was going to be #2 was really difficult because they are both insanely amazing movies but once you get to the bottom, you'll see what I finally chose.

#10
Shutter Island was a good movie.  I saw it in theaters opening weekend and really liked it.  I kind of thought it was a very obvious movie though.  I mean, hello, anyone with a brain can see that Leo DiCaprio is the missing patient. Duhh.  Anyway, it was decent.  It's one of those movies where you have to be in the mood to watch. I couldn't just sit down and say "lets watch Shutter Island!" Sorry Leo, not this time.

The A-Team was such an action packed movie, however some of the stunts and action scenes were a little too far-fetched to believe.  Seriously, "flying" a tank?  Was I the only one who thought that maybe Hollywood was trying a little too hard with this film?  Don't get me wrong, I love cast, because who wouldn't want to see Bradley Cooper 3/4 of the way naked in a tanning booth? ;) Good plot, good acting, good action sequences (on some occasions).  Personally, I've seen better.

Remember Me was so good, but compared to other movies I saw in 2010 it's more at the bottom of the list.  A great story, great plot and great acting by Twilight star Rob Pattinson.  The story revolving around a troubled 21 year old named Tyler tells a powerful tale of love and loss.  The movie really took me by surprise with the shocking twist at the end.  I love this movie.  I own it and every time I watch it, I cry my eyes out at least 3 times every time.  Like I said, this movie is superb, but compared to other movies that were released in 2010, this one doesn't quiet make top 5.

Where to even begin with Jackass 3D....well if you've seen the first 3 movies (1, 2 and 2.5) you know what you're in for.  This one however is much less crude than the other films.  I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in my entire life.  This movie made the Hangover look like a drama (although I absolutely LOVE the Hangover).  The pranks, the jokes and the stunts are ridiculous but sheer genius and down right hilarious.  Once again, the Jackass crew did it again.  Like Remember Me, this was an awesome movie, but I did like other ones over this one.

The second to last installment of the Harry Potter series is phenomenal!! Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 was spectacular in theaters.  The other thing that I really liked about this movie was that it wasn't in 3D unlike every other movie that was out at the time.  The struggles of love, friendship and trust are all tested to the max in this movie.  Every year since Twilight came out, Harry Potter has had to compete to see which would be bigger in the box office and personally, I think that Part 1 & Part 2 of the Deathly Hallows will certainly beat out the 4th installment of the Twilight series (even though I really like Twilight a little more than Harry Potter).  Overall, amazing movie.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse was honestly the best of the movies so far.  The books are obviously better but this movie really took me by surprise.  The effects were awesome and David Slade did a perfect job directing this movie.  The newborns looked just how I pictured them, the Volturi were as vicious as ever and the Cullens were as perfect as ever :)  Definitely in my top 5 fave movies of 2010.

All I can say is that I recommend this movie to anyone who wants to see Ben Affleck's gorgeous abs ;)  The Town was way better than I had expected.  Bank robbery is a frightening thing especially when the robbers are dressed up as skeletons and nuns *shutters*.  I was very shocked to see Blake Lively go from playing a snobby rich girl in Gossip Girl to a single mother, coke head in The Town.  This movie is great.  Lots of f-bombs dropped but no biggie, it's rated R, what do you expect?  Awesome movie.  I really wish I had seen it in theaters.

Well, I just watched this movie about 2 hours ago and let me tell you, it's 10 times better the 2nd time around.  The Social Network blew me away!  It's so hard to believe that a 20-some year old created what is now the most popular and most populated social network...EVER!  This movie deserved ever award it got.  Crazy awesome is the best way to describe it.  Oh, and Andrew Garfield is just beautiful; I want to marry the man <3

#2
As much as it pains me to put Black Swan at #2 it has to be done.  There are no words that can describe how much I love this movie.  It was so beautiful and powerful and full of life.  Natalie Portman is pure magic in this role.  People see this movie and look at it as a girl who desperately wants the lead role in the play 'Swan Lake'.  However, these are the people that don't analyze and look at the deeper meaning of films.  This movie looks at how people try too hard to strive for perfection and that eventually that strive becomes obsession and, in the end, it will kill you (spoiler sorry).  Darren Aronofsky is an absolute genius.  First Requiem For A Dream, now Black Swan.  His vision is brought to life with color and music and his hard work shows in this masterpiece.

People don't realize how obsessed I am with Inception.  I saw it 3 times in theaters, rented it twice and then I got it for Christmas and since then I think I've watched it about 50 or 60 times.  It was really hard to choose between Inception and Black Swan for the #1 movie on my top 10 list, but when it finally came down to it, I have to go with Inception.  Christopher Nolan first hit with Batman Begins which was actually pretty good.  Then he hit a home run with The Dark Knight (which I'm also obsessed with).  Finally, Mr. Nolan hit a grand slam out of the park with his mind-fuck film, Inception.  Going inside the world of a dream seemed a little silly to me at first but when I saw more previews for it I was taken back.  Leonardo DiCaprio, Michael Caine, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Ellen Page do a knockout job in this movie.  Unfortunately, it didn't win many awards, all of which went to The Social Network.  This movie is spectacular and I highly recommend it to everyone.  You really catch more of it the 2nd time around but it's definitely worth quite a few watches.
